Hello!
Welcome to my blog, and thanks for dropping by! I am Sandhya, and I mostly spend my time reading, writing, daydreaming, and overthinking (which, of course, includes working as a lawyer). I have completed B.Sc., LL.B. from Gujarat National Law University, and I currently work at a law firm.
I have been reading books and writing about them for some time now. In my old blog, I wrote on books, movies, stories, art, life, law, and other interesting ideas that bounce around my head. However, in January 2021, I lost over a 100 posts on Blogger due to a glitch that can neither be explained nor be undone. I was heartbroken (understandably), ranted on twitter (like anyone else from this generation), sulked and cried over the spilt milk for a good while. But 10 years and a loss of over 100 posts later, I welcome this space and move on from Blogger.
There ends the essentials of this introduction, but if you’d like to know more, then continue reading as I recall my journey that has led me here.
From 2010-2022, I was writing in the space I created for myself on Blogger, and it all started with a very sincere, childish review of The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. It was a beloved space that began as a small, unconscious journey in the summer vacations of 2010 to simply write about what I loved doing. My father, seeing me read one book after another, lost in the world of fiction, introduced the concept of a blog to me. It was new, fascinating, and brilliant. I did not have to restrict my narration of what I loved to just my parents, but could share it with the whole world.
In the first 5-6 years, I also wrote and self-published three novels- Wizile, Much Of A Muchness, and Sir Antiquarian. If you are interested in the spectacle and mind of a 10-13 year old, and obviously childish writing filled with heart-warming errors but a racing story, they are available for free download in the old blog, under the tab “My Books”.
Until 2016, I had my blog going with at least a couple of posts a month, even during my high school years. But, 2017-19 was a dry patch, with barely anything that I had written, that sent me spiralling into a path of self-pity as to what has become of those two years. So, in 2020, when I was glued to my chair all day, every day at home thanks to the pandemic, I decided to write every single day.
A Beautiful Start To My Twenties
2020: what a brilliant year for the blog! 366 days and 366 posts, ending with a homemade yearbook reflecting on the year’s reading and writing! There was so much love and support, and it definitely set the tone for a lifetime of reading, learning, writing, and reflecting on my own thoughts!
When I lost over a 100 posts in January 2021, after a lot of crying, I also attempted to start a newsletter for the books I read. But, that could not sustain and did not go beyond 12 episodes. If you are interested, you can check the archive here: Newsletter- For the love of good books!
I am finally happy to begin writing again, in a new space, and maybe in more refined ways. I hope this journey that I start now is as memorable, sweet, and fulfilling as the old ones!
